Make Sure You Don't Forget To...

Make time to daydream about the good things. They will come at the dawn of God’s most perfect of timings. It’s OK to be a little late, people are pretty darn good at the whole forgiveness thing. Turn off the TV and sit in quiet for a few hours. Put your phone down. No matter how much you run in the opposite direction, good age finds us all. Still run though. Your body is a rarity and a blessing and should never be taken for granted. Nourish your soul with good people. Take a boat off that island you moved into. Knock on that door. Be present, contribute wholly to another person’s life. The lifespan of vegetables is pretty short, so when at hand, eat the dang vegetables. Listen to more music. Shake the dust off your limbs. Dance a little more. Pick up a book. Passion and aspiration are always necessary. Don’t be afraid to be plain. Steward your life and your thoughts not the way they’re reflected back at you, but quietly. It doesn’t all need to to be out there for the world to see, it doesn’t all need to be provoking, or life-changing, or likable, but it’s yours. The good Lord can make a miracle in one day, and the sun shines again tomorrow. Buy that plane ticket. Go home. Come back and try again. Ask the important questions. Be the answer to someone’s prayer. No one cares if you’re wearing makeup. Don’t sleep through a rainy day—make soup, write a letter, play some Bruce Springsteen. Give grace and it’ll be given back to you. Love your brother. Say the kind words because that’s who you are. Make the drive because that’s who you are. Don’t apologize for being a burden, at some point we all are. So grow some more muscle. Love others a little more. Pray a little harder. Small revolutions are born out of small, everyday actions. The tide can change. And occasionally a plant spurts out of the thickest of soils. Amen. Amen. Amen.
